Finding Buddha

Dear One,

Under a tree, sat a man deep in contemplation about life and death. A noble prince, a devoted husband, a doting father and a dutiful son was he. All he wanted was to realize the truth. He left everything behind that he once valued, in search of it. Nothing could hold him back from reality.

A thousand questions ran in his troubled mind. He wondered if there is God, then why is there suffering. If there is suffering, then what is God doing. What is the basis of human suffering? Is there no respite from the wheel of birth and death. He questioned the wise men of his times, about his doubts and got shallow answers that were steeped in ageless tradition. Answers that could satisfy his intellect, but not appease his yearning soul. Answers derived from someone else's quest and not his own.

He travelled far and wide in search of wisdom. He climbed the highest mountains in search of truth only to come down disillusioned. He sat cross legged for hours mortifying his already frail body, yet the truth evaded him in every turn. He was forlorn and heart broken. His mind seized this opportunity and began to trick him off his faith. For the first time he felt utterly helpless.

Seated and pondering thus, he heard a gentle voice deep inside. "What you search outside is actually inside you." said the soothing voice. His mental eye opened and a sudden gush of life-giving energy coursed through his mortal veins and he experienced the Ultimate Truth. A mass of pure white light engulfed him within and without. He saw light all around. Everything was made of pure light. The stones, the trees, everything living or dead was throbbing with pure light. He embraced the light and became one with it. He became The Buddha - The Enlightened One.

Buddha is light. Buddha is a state of mind. Buddha is in everyone. To find him look inside yourself. The light shall reveal itself and you shall become one with it.
