Let's see what Chanakya has to say about leaders and leadership. Chanakya has described over one hundred traits of an efficient leader. Some of them are reproduced below.

>> Intelligence and Spirit - They are like two sides of the same coin. A leader cannot afford to be emotional. Although he/she has to understand emotions but should not turn emotional in the bargain. He/she should have great thoughts, but also implement them skillfully. He/she should be a master of situational leadership. Plan out your work and work out your plan.

>> Given To Seeing Elders - An evolving leader should definitely have an experienced mentor, who will guide, challenge and help rework perceptions. 

>> Truthful In Speech - Think 100 times before making a promise or a commitment. Once made never go back on your word. Excuses are not leaders best used weapons.

>>  Being Grateful - Present day leaders lack one vital leadership trait - Attitude of gratitude. You will garner people's support only if you are truly grateful. Your success is just not yours; it was with the contribution of many a supportive souls.

>> Easily Approachable - A leader should be easily approachable, mentally and physically. Don't sit inside a cabin with just your choicest few. Movement is the mark of a great leader. Be open to new ideas even from an abject new comer.

>> Continuous Education - Keep on learning. Always be a student. Share your knowledge with everyone who is desirous of learning. Don't hold on to this treasure as it will make you a rich lone pauper.

>> Be A Role Model - You may not be a role model to everybody, at least be a role model to somebody. Conduct yourself to be a worthy role model.
